Welcome. I am glad you are here.

I am a Doctor of Acupuncture practicing in Providence, Rhode Island. My practice is rooted in the Hari method of Japanese Meridian Therapy, a gentle form of acupuncture that listens closely to your body as it changes from moment to moment, week to week, and year to year. Rather than following a fixed protocol, my treatments are guided by what I feel through the gentle palpation of your pulse, abdomen, and meridian system, allowing me to design your care to be precise, responsive, and deeply individualized.

Japanese Meridian Therapy uses very fine needles and the warming herb moxa (refined Artemisia Princeps or japanese mugwort) to regulate the meridian system - an energetic network articulated by traditional Chinese medicine - to encourage the body back toward a state of balance. These tools are subtle but powerful, helping to release tension, improve circulation, and support the nervous system in settling and restoring itself.

In Japan, this style of acupuncture is considered a form of preventive medicine—something people use not only when the body hurts, but to stay well, resilient, and in tune with their bodies. It can be helpful for chronic headaches, pain, digestive concerns, fatigue, emotional stress, and many other patterns of imbalance.

At the heart of this medicine is a simple truth: your body is always trying to heal. The role of the practitioner is to notice where things have become stuck or strained and gently guide your system back toward its own natural state of healing. My treatments are quiet, careful, and collaborative—an invitation for your body to find its way home again.

I see patients at my office on the east side of Providence. Appointments are typically 75 minutes and are $100. While I encourage regular visits for the cumulative benefits of this work, I also welcome patients for acute concerns when something specific arises.

about me:

I am a board certified Doctor of Acupuncture, licensed in Ohio and Rhode Island. My work is rooted in the Hari method of Japanese Meridian Therapy, a classical system refined and taught by Takayuki Koei Kuwahara Sensei. I recently returned to Providence with my husband and two daughters after living in Ohio for 12 years.

I studied acupuncture at the American Institute of Alternative Medicine in Columbus, Ohio, and completed advanced training at the High Desert Hari Society in Santa Fe with Dr. Ehrland Truitt. I have traveled to Japan to observe and receive training from Kuwahara Sensei along with master practitioners in Osaka, Kobe, and Kagoshima. I also apprenticed for two years with Dr. Brian Neill, where I deepened my hands-on skills in pulse diagnosis, abdominal palpation, meridian assessment, and gentle, patient-centered care. I am on the board of the Ocean Breeze Hari Society which helps to sponsor training and share knowledge of Japanese Meridian Acupuncture on the east coast.

Before becoming an acupuncturist, I worked as an architect and educator in California, Rhode Island, and Ohio. I earned my undergraduate degree in filmmaking and cinematography from Northwestern University, and my masters degree in architecture from the University of California at Berkeley. That background continues to shape my clinical work, bringing an attentive approach to recognizing patterns—whether in buildings or in bodies—and to creating treatments that support stability, flow, and long-term well-being.
